Matt Gose

June 26 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Matt Gose is an emerging singer, songwriter, musician, and producer in the San Diego music scene. With influences spanning decades — from the classic singer-songwriters of the 1960s and 70s, to blues greats of the post-war era, to contemporary indie and alternative sounds — Matt’s eclectic taste and unique style connects with listeners of all generations.

Matt finds inspiration for his own music all around. In the sounds and styles of the artists he admires, as well as in the happenings of day to day life — the joys, the celebrations, the hardships, the struggles. With a love for literature (and a degree in English) Matt also draws inspiration from incredible stories throughout the ages — infusing his lyrics and melodies with a sense of story and character.

Drawing inspiration from so many of the great protest singers throughout the years — Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and many others — Matt believes that a great song has something to say — sometimes direct and straight forward, other times in more subtle ways. Music, Matt believes, should show us a picture of the beautiful world we want, draw us a road map, then move us to our feet to get there.

In July 2022, after nearly a decade of working as a parttime artist, Matt was able to release his debut single “Idiot Box,” under the name Son Terre. The track represents so much of Matt’s self and style. Musical motifs inspired by indie folk, delta blues, and alternative rock. Lyrics referencing Lewis Carroll and Aesop’s Fables. All as a means of wrestling through a season of great struggle both internally and externally.
